Steps: Connect Website to Yandex Using DNS

Yandex Webmaster Tool is a powerful platform that helps you monitor how your website performs in Yandex’s search engine. By verifying your site, you gain access to tools for indexing, performance analysis, error tracking, and more.

DNS record verification is a secure way to verify your site on Yandex Search Console. It is also a reliable method. Here’s how you can do that step-by-step using Yandex Search Console.

🛠 Connect Website via DNS Record

1. Log in to Yandex Webmaster

• Visit webmaster.yandex.com
• Log in using your Yandex account (create one if you don’t have it yet)

2. Add Your Website

• On the main dashboard, click “+ Add site”
• Enter your site’s URL (use the correct protocol, e.g., https://www.example.com)
• Click “Add”

3. Choose DNS Verification

• Yandex will present multiple verification methods
• Choose the DNS record method
• Yandex will provide a unique TXT record (something like yandex-verification: abc123456) for Yandex Search Console.

4. Add the DNS TXT Record

• Log in to your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider
• Go to the DNS management or DNS settings section
• Add a new TXT record:
  • Host / Name: usually @ or leave it blank (depends on your DNS provider)
  • Type: TXT
  • Value / Content: the verification code from Yandex (e.g., yandex-verification: abc123456)
• Save the changes

Click on + ADD RECORD to add your domain records.

5. Wait for DNS Propagation

• DNS updates can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours (typically much faster)

6. Confirm Verification

• Go back to Yandex Webmaster Tool
• Click “Check” or “Verify”
• If the TXT record is detected, Yandex will confirm your ownership and grant access to your Yandex Search Console.

7. Submit Your Sitemap

✅ After Verification

Once your site is verified:

• You can submit sitemaps, monitor search queries, track indexing status, and more using Yandex Search Console.
• Consider adding additional verification methods for backup (like an HTML file or meta tag).
• You can remove the TXT record afterward—but it’s a good idea to keep it in place for ongoing verification.

Go to Indexing and => Sitemap files.

At URL, enter your sitemap_index.xml, then click on Check and Add.

🎉 Wrapping Up

Verifying your website with Yandex Webmaster using a DNS record is a clean method. It is non-intrusive and ideal if you don’t want to modify your website’s code. It is also ideal if you don’t want to upload files. Once connected to Yandex Search Console, you gain insights into how Yandex views your site.
