YouTube vs Whop Earning Comparison

Content creators today have a variety of platforms to monetize their audience. Two of the most popular but very different models are YouTube and Whop. On this platform, income is largely based on ad revenue and view count. Another model is Whop, a platform for selling digital products, memberships, or exclusive content directly to fans. Each platform suits different creator strategies and audience types.

This comparison explores your potential earnings from YouTube vs. Whop based on your number of viewers or fans. This helps you make a more informed choice about where to invest your energy.

1. YouTube Earnings (Per Viewer Basis)

YouTube monetization mostly comes through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) via ads. Here’s a breakdown:

Average Earnings per 1,000 Views (CPM):

• YouTube takes 45% of ad revenue; creators keep 55%.
• To earn from YouTube ads, you need at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months.

Rough Earning Estimate from Views:

Note: Earnings vary with niche, region, viewer location, and ad types.

2. Whop Earnings (Per Viewer Basis)

Whop is a creator marketplace where you can sell:

• Subscriptions (memberships)
• Digital products (courses, templates, bots, software access)
• Communities (e.g., Discord groups)
• Paywalled content or tools

Unlike YouTube, you set the price, and Whop takes a 5–10% fee depending on the plan.

Example Earnings on Whop:

Let’s say you sell a membership or product for $10/month.

🔹 At 5% conversion and $10/month, 1,000 viewers can yield $500/month. This is often more than YouTube unless you’re in a high-CPM niche.

You can also offer higher-priced products (e.g., $50 one-time courses, $100/month coaching), giving more flexibility and earning potential than YouTube ad revenue.
