Get cinematic surround and punchy bass for under $170—here’s why it’s a smart, simple upgrade. Most modern TVs look great, but sound thin — dialogue gets lost, explosions fall flat, and a full 5.1 setup means extra speakers, wires, and cost. Dolby Atmos Drama Speakers can provide genuinely immersive sound that fills the room. You must avoid turning your living room into a wiring jungle. Otherwise, that gap becomes frustrating quickly.
Dolby Atmos Drama Speakers
The ULTIMEA 5.1CH Poseidon M60 aims to bridge that gap. It features a single soundbar plus a wired wooden sub. This setup delivers a Dolby Atmos-like 5.1 impression. It offers 300W peak power. It includes VoiceMX for clearer dialogue. App-driven tuning allows you to tailor the sound to your room. It’s easy to set up (HDMI eARC). It offers a strong cinematic impact for the price.
In short, if you want bigger and clearer home-theater sound, consider the Poseidon M60. You don’t need to buy and wire a full discrete system. It isn’t perfect (it won’t fully replace rear satellites in very large rooms), but at about $168.99. It’s a strong value. You can find it on Amazon. Get ready to upgrade your TV audio with speakers that deliver drama akin to the Dolby Atmos experience. It feels like a practical step up from your TV speakers, much like upgrading to Dolby Atmos Drama Speakers.
ULTIMEA M60 Dolby Atmos Soundbar

Sound performance and tuning
The Poseidon M60 aims for cinematic presence more than club-level sub pressure. The five-driver arrangement and side-firing drivers create convincing width and side effects. The center-focused driver plus VoiceMX keeps the dialog front and clear. The wooden subwoofer uses an 18 mm high-excursion driver and a tuned 5.3L enclosure to deliver tight, musical bass that complements rather than overwhelms. Adding drama, these aspects make it a fantastic choice for those seeking Dolby Atmos-like speakers.
App and advanced controls
The Ultimea app gives you granular control when you want it:
Design, build, and placement
The bar is slim and unobtrusive, fitting most TV stands and furniture. Wall brackets are included if you prefer a mounted look. The wired subwoofer remains compact and can be tucked near furniture for an uncluttered feel. It complements the drama of cinematic audio with its Dolby Atmos speakers’ capability in a compact form.

FAQ
No — the M60 is engineered to simulate a 5.1 experience using side-firing drivers and DSP; it delivers spaciousness and side effects without separate rear satellites. If you want discrete rear imaging, a full 5.1 speaker system will still outperform any single-bar solution.
Yes — HDMI eARC unlocks higher bandwidth. It lets the bar receive lossless Dolby Atmos streams. This happens when your TV and source device support eARC. Use eARC for the best surround fidelity and to avoid lip-sync or downmixing issues.
A wired subwoofer removes pairing problems and latency, and often gives a more consistent, predictable bass response. For many rooms, the wired Poseidon subwoofer offers tighter, punchier low end compared with budget wireless subs. This enhances the drama of the sound, akin to what you’d expect from Dolby Atmos speakers.
Absolutely. The Ultimea app includes a 10-band EQ, preset modes, and adjustable surround levels. You can tailor the sound to your furniture, wall reflections, and personal taste.
Bluetooth 5.4 provides a more stable connection and better resistance to interference compared with older versions. You’ll notice fewer dropouts. Streaming for music and casual video will be smoother. However, HDMI eARC is still best for high-quality surround audio.
Yes — low-latency HDMI connections and a well-defined center channel make it suitable for console gaming. The immersive side effects add directional cues, and the app lets you boost clarity or bass depending on the game.

App control is handy but I had a few hiccups pairing at first. Had to restart the bar and phone once. After that it’s smooth. Also, the remote feels a little cheap but works. 🙂
Overall happy with the clarity — voices come through nicely but i wish the sub hit a bit harder sometimes…
Thanks Jessica — glad you got it paired. Firmware updates through the app can also improve stability, so check for updates after setup.
Same here — one reboot fixed my pairing. Pro tip: make sure other Bluetooth devices are off during initial pairing to avoid confusion.
Just bought this last week and honestly surprised how wide it sounds for a single bar + sub. Setup was straightforward and the app made EQ tweaks easy.
For the price ($168.99) it’s a steal if you want Atmos vibes without the rear speaker fuss.
Agree — I demoed one in-store and the soundstage was better than I expected. For small living rooms it’s great.
If anyone’s curious about placement: keep the bar centered and give the sub some space from the wall if possible for tighter bass.
Thanks for the note, Sarah — glad it worked out! The DSP and BassMX really help create that room-filling effect without extra speakers.
Long post because I tested this with multiple sources (Netflix Atmos, PS5, and Spotify):
1) Dolby Atmos scenes: the height/surround effects are surprisingly present — not magic theater-level but very convincing for a single-bar setup.
2) Dialogue: VoiceMX helps a lot; vocals sit forward without sounding shouty.
3) Music: decent, but not audiophile-grade. Nice for casual listening.
If you want an affordable Atmos experience without hunting for rear speakers, this is one of the best values right now.
Thanks for the thorough rundown, Olivia — that matches our lab impressions. It’s engineered for cinematic impact first, music second.
Great write-up. Did you notice any hiss at low volumes or while idle?
$168.99 seems like a hype price — is the warranty decent? I saw it’s ‘limited’ in the listing. Anyone had to contact ULTIMEA support?
The limited warranty covers manufacturing defects; specifics vary by region. For Amazon purchases, returns through Amazon are usually straightforward within the return window.
I had a small issue and returned via Amazon — seller processed refund quickly. Not sure about long-term warranty claims though.
Installed mine in an apartment living room — neighbors didn’t complain about the sub (so good for shared spaces). Setup was 10 minutes. 👍
Great to hear, Sophie — the 5.25″ sub is tuned for punch without extreme slam, which helps keep volume neighbor-friendly.
Appreciate the quick install note — saves me time on the weekend project.
Can anyone confirm how well this integrates with a PC (Windows) for games? I’m wondering if virtual Atmos via Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for Headphones translates well to the bar over HDMI.
Also try setting your media player (e.g., VLC, Netflix app) to passthrough if available — that helps preserve the multichannel stream.
I use mine with a desktop GPU via HDMI — set Windows to bitstream (or passthrough on some players) and it works fine for Atmos content in apps that support it.
For PC games, check your sound card settings. Sometimes you need to disable enhancements so the bar receives a clean signal.
You can output PCM/bitstream over HDMI from a PC. If you’re using Dolby Atmos for Headphones, that’s a virtualization for headphones and won’t translate directly to the bar. Best is to use native Atmos tracks or stereo PCM via HDMI and let the bar’s DSP do the virtualization.
Does the wired sub really make a difference vs. a wireless one? I like the idea of not having to deal with syncing issues but hate the extra cable trail.
Also, how punchy is the bass for action movies?
Good question — wired subs avoid latency/dropouts and usually give slightly better, more consistent bass. The 5.25″ sub here with BassMX is tuned for punchy low end; good for explosions but not stadium-shaking (given the 300W system power and compact cabinet).
If you’re worried about aesthetics, consider running the cable behind furniture or along molding. Function > looks imo for home theater.
Also worth noting the app lets you cut bass if it’s boomy in your room. Worth experimenting with sub placement.
I’ve had mine for a month — wired was fine, I hid the cable along baseboard. Bass is punchy for movies, sometimes you can feel it in your chest at high volumes.
I’ve had the Poseidon M60 for two weeks mounted under my wall TV. A few observations:
– Mounting: the included brackets are solid; the bar is light (8.8 lbs) so it’s manageable.
– HDMI/eARC: Passes Atmos from my receiver to the bar cleanly.
– Sound: Great center image and surprisingly wide surround sense. Bass is tight — not earth-quaking but musical.
For the money, it’s hard to beat unless you want real discrete rear channels.
Thanks for the follow-up. The tight bass comment is what I wanted to hear.
Appreciate the detailed test, Michael — your points on mounting and eARC align with our review tests.
Nice — did you try different DSP modes? I liked Movie mode for Atmos and Music mode for stereo tracks.
A soundbar that does 5.1 without rears? Witchcraft. 😂
Seriously though, sounds like it could be perfect for my apartment where I can’t mount rear speakers. Anyone tried wall-mounting it above the TV?
I wall-mounted mine and it was fine. Make sure the HDMI eARC is connected (if available) for the best Atmos passthrough.
Haha — not magic, just DSP and careful driver placement. It does come with wall brackets and mounting screws; wall mounting above the TV works but aim it slightly downward if possible.
Witchcraft or not, works for me. No rears, no mess, still dramatic sound.
Thinking about this for my PS5 setup. Anyone noticed input lag or lip-sync issues when using ARC/eARC? Also does Bluetooth 5.4 add any advantage for low-latency gaming audio?
If you need minimal latency for multiplayer, use HDMI or a direct optical connection if your TV supports it.
FYI some TVs add processing delay — enable game mode on the TV to reduce it.
ARC/eARC tends to be best for game consoles — it carries uncompressed Atmos (if the source provides it) and avoids Bluetooth latency. Bluetooth 5.4 is great for streaming music but not ideal for real-time gaming audio (wired HDMI is preferred).
I used it with a Switch (non-Atmos) and it’s fine for casual play. For precision shooters go wired.
No lag with my PS5 via eARC. Bluetooth for phones is fine but avoid it for competitive gaming.
I’m mainly worried about dialogue clarity during crowded action scenes. Many soundbars make explosions and background effects overpower voices. Has anyone tried watching news or dialog-heavy shows on this? How adjustable is the midrange/voice?
I’d like a unit that can push dialogue forward without making it unnatural. Also, any tips on EQ settings in the app for that purpose?
I watch dramas and found Movie mode + +2 midrange in the app did the trick. Voices were clear even during explosions.
Great question — VoiceMX is designed to do exactly that: bring dialogue forward while keeping ambience intact. In the app, boost the midrange and enable the “Voice” preset (or slightly reduce bass) to make speech clearer without sounding artificial.
